WAPPENBURY, a parish in the Southam division
of the hundred of KNIGHTLOW, county of WARWICK,
6 miles (N. N. W.) from Southam, containing, with the
hamlet of Eathfope, 284 inhabitants. The living is a
vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese
of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books
at £8, endowed with £400 private benefaction, and
£1000 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Lord
Clifford. The church is dedicated to St. Esperit.
