WARBLINGTON, a parish in the hundred of BOSMERE, Portsdown division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 1 mile (S. E. by E.) from Havant, containing, with the tything of Emsworth, 1850 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at £19. 9. 4., and in the patronage of the Rev. W. Norris. The church is partly in the Norman and partly in the early English style of architecture, with an oratory at the termination of each aisle: several stone coffins are deposited in both aisles. The parish is bounded on the south by Langstone harbour. The ruins called Warblington castle are the remains of a quadrangular mansion of the Montacutes, of which there are only the gateway and tower, the whole being surrounded by a deep fosse.
