WAREHORNE, a parish in the hundred of HAM, lathe of SHEPWAY, county of KENT, 7 miles (S. by W.) from Ashford, containing 493 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at £19, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Matthew. The Grand Military canal from Hythe to Rye passes through the parish, and the rivers Medway, Rother, and Stour, have their sources here. Fairs are held on May 14th, for toys j and October 2nd and 3rd, for cattle; the former on Ham-Street green, the latter on Warehorne green.
