WASPERTON, a parish in the Warwick division of the hundred of KINGTON, county of WARWICK, 4 miles (S. S. W.) from Warwick, containing 271 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Worcester, rated in the king's books at £5, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Rector of Hampton-Lucy. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. This parish is entitled to participate in the benefit of the grammar school founded at Hampton- Lucy by the Rev. Richard Hill.
