WELLOW, a parish in the South-clay division of the wapentake of BASSETLAW, county of NOTTINGHAM 1 mile (S. E. by E.) from Ollerton, containing 444 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York, endowed with £800 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Hon. and Rev. J. L. Saville. The church is dedicated to St. Swithin. Here is a small school, endowed by an unknown benefactor.
