WEMBDON, a parish in the northern division of
the hundred of PETHERTON, county of SOMERSET, 1
mile (N. W.) from Bridgwater, containing 203 inhabitants.
The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry
of Taunton, and diocese of Bath and Wells,
rated in the king's books at £9- 16. 10., and in the
patronage of C. K. Tynte, Esq. The church is dedicated
to St. George. The river Parret is navigable
on the east.
