WESTENHANGER, or OSTENHANGER, a manor, anciently a parish, in the parish of STANDFORD, hundred of SOUTHING, lathe of SHEPWAY, county of KENT, 3 miles (N. W.) from Hythe. The population is returned with Standford. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at £7. 12. 6., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church, which was dedicated to St. Thomas a Becket, has been long demolished.
