WESTON, a parish in the northern division of the wapentake of THURGARTON, county of NOTTINGHAM 3 miles (S. E.) from Tuxford, containing 300 inhabit ants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £19. 2. 11., and in the patronage of Earl Manvers. The church, dedicated to All Saints, exhibits specimens of various styles of architecture. Richard Hawksworth, in 1736, bequeathed £50 for erecting a school-house, and £100 towards its endowment, for the education of ten poor children. Weston is in the honour of Tutbury, duchy of Lancaster, and within the jurisdiction of a court of pleas held at Tutbury every third Tuesday, for the recovery of debts under 40s.
