WHITFIELD, a parish in the hundred of KING'S-SUTTON, county of NORTHAMPTON, 2 miles (N. E. by N.) from Brackley, containing 297 inhabitants. .The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £8. 15.., and in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Worcester College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. John the Evangelist. About twenty poor children are instructed for £6 a year, arising from land purchased with sundry donations.
