WHITTON, a parish in the northern division of the wapentake of MANLEY, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 11 miles (W. N. W.) from Barton upon Humber, containing 212 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, with the vicarage of Aukborough united; in the archdeaconry of Stow, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £6. 10., endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the alternate' patronage of the Bishop of Lincoln and T. Goulton, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
