WIELD, a parish in the hundred of FAWLEY, Fawley division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 6 miles (W.) from Alton, containing 222 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Winchester, endowed with £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Earl of Portsmouth. The church is dedicated to St. James.
