WILTON, a parish in the hundred of GRIMSHOE, county of NORFOLK, 4 miles (W.) from Brandon-Ferry. The population is returned with the parish of Hockwold. The living is a discharged vicarage, united to the rectory of Hockwold, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £6. 7. 6. The church, dedicated to St. James, is built of flint and boulder stones, with a massive embattled tower, surmounted by an octangular spire of freestone; on the north side of the building is a curious arch, probably constructed for the burial-place of the founder. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
