WIMBISH, a parish in the hundred of UTTLESFORD, county of ESSEX, 4 miles (B.S.E.) from Saffron- Walden, containing, with Thunderley, 809 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, with that of Thunderley united in 1425, in the archdeaconry of Middlesex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £8, and in the patronage of the Rector: the rectory; a sinecure, is rated at £ 12, and in the patronage of the Rev, John Dolignon. The church is dedicated to All Saints. . Sarah Barnard, in 1774, bequeathed an annuity of/£4 in support of a school.
