WINDFORD, a parish in the hundred of HARTCLIFFE with BEDMINSTER, county of SOMERSET, 6 miles (S. W. by S.) from Bristol, containing 849 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Bath, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £21. 12. 11., and in the patronage of the Provost and Fellows of Worcester College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Mary and St. Peter. Four poor children are instructed for £3 a year, the bequest of Alexander Goodwin, in 1780.
