WOLTERTON, a parish in the southern division of the hundred of ERPINGHAM, county of NORFOLK, 4 miles (N. N. W.) from Aylsham, containing 37 inhabit- ants. The living is a discharged rectory, annexed to that of Wickmere, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £ 8. The church, dedicated to St. Margaret, is supposed to have been rebuilt by John de Wulterton, whose effigy, with that of his wife, still remain in one of the windows, and in others were representations of the twelve Apostles.
