WOMBOURNE, a parish in the southern division of the hundred of SEISDON, county of STAFFORD, 4 miles (S. W. by S.) from Wolverhampton, containing, with the liberty of Orton, 1478 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Stafford, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £12. 12. 8., and in the patronage of certain Trustees. The church is dedicated to St. Benedict. The Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal passes through the parish.
