WOODFORD, a parish in the hundred of CHIPPINGWARDEN, county of NORTHAMPTON, 7 miles (S. S. W.) from Daventry, containing 766 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £6. 10., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church, dedicated to All Saints, has lately received an addition of eighty sittings, of which forty-seven are free, the Incorporated Society for the enlargement of churches and chapels having granted £30 towards defraying the expense. There is a place of worship for Baptists. At Hinton, in this parish, is a mineral spring.
