WOODHALL, a parish in the southern division of the wapentake of GARTREE, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 2 miles (W. S. W.) from Horncastle, containing 191 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the manorial court of Kirkstead, rated in the king's books at £ 13, endowed with £300 private benefaction, and £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Lincoln. The church is dedicated to St. Margaret.
