WORMLEY, a parish in the hundred of HERTFORD, and county of HERTFORD, 2 miles (NbyB.) from Cheshunt, containing 492 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the jurisdiction of the Archdeacon of Middlesex, concurrently with the Consistorial Court of the Bishop of London/ rated in the king's books at £10. 32. %, and in the patronage of Sir A. Hume, Bart. The church, dedicated to St. Lawrence, has a Norman doorway and at the west end, a square wooden tower; it contains sevS tSets, altar-tombs, and other sepulchrd mortals. The New River runs through tfce parish, and the river Lea bounds it on the east.
