lathe of AYLESFORD, county of KENT 5 miles
(S.S.W.) from Sittingbourne, containing 191 inhabit-
ants. The living is a rectory, in the city
and diocese of Canterbury, rated in the king's books at
£10, and in the patronage of the Governors of Christ's
Hospital, London. The church, dedicated to St. Giles,
has a tower steeple, and some fine remains of stained
glass in the great east window.
