WYRARDISBURY, or WRAYSBURY, a parish in the hundred of STOKE, county of BUCKINGHAM, 3 miles (8. W. by S.) from Colnbrook, containing 520 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, with the perpetual curacy of Langley-Marish annexed, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 14. 10. 5., and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Windsor. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew. A Benedictine nunnery, in honpur of St. Mary Magdalene, was founded at Ankerwyke, in this parish, in the time of Henry II., by Sir Gilbert de Montfichet, which at the dissolution was valued at £45. 14. 4.
