KILLOKENNEDY, a parish, in the barony of TULLA, county of CLARE, and province of MUNSTER, 5 miles (W.) from Killaloe, on the road from that place to Ennis; containing 3586 inhabitants. It comprises 9349 statute acres, as applotted under the tithe act, including much mountain pasture and some bog. Good building and flag stone are obtained. Ballyquin, the seat of-Arthur, Esq., is situated in Glenomera, which is celebrated as a shooting station for grouse and pheasants. At Kilbane is a constabulary police station. It is a vicarage, in the diocese of Killaloe, forming part of the union of Kiltonanlea, or Doonass: the rectory is part of the union of Omullod: the tithes amount to £216.2.9½. per annum, of which £106. 3. 1. is payable to the vicar, and the remainder to the rector. In the R. C. divisions it forms part of the unions or districts of Broadford and Doonass, and has chapels at Kilbane and Kilmore. There are two private schools, in which about 220 children are educated.
