BUCHANHAVEN, a village, in the parish of PeterHEAD, district of Buchan, county of Aberdeen, 1 mile (N.) from Peterhead. This village is situated on the east coast, to the north of the haven of Peterhead, and near the mouth of the river Ugie, which here flows into the German Ocean. The inhabitants are engaged in the white and herring fisheries, both of which are successfully carried on, at no great distance off the coast. Five boats are employed in each, for the accommodation of which a small harbour lias been lately constructed.
