CLARENCEFIELD, a village, in the parish of Ruthwell,
county of Dumfries, 6| miles (W. by N.) from
Annan: containing 86 inhabitants. It is situated near
the road between Dumfries and Cummertrees, and a
short distance west of Ruthwell church. On each side
of the village is a stream which discharges itself, at the
distance of about a mile, into the Solway Firth.
