KIRKMUIRHILL, a village, in the parish of LesMAHAGow,
Upper ward of the county of Lanark, 5 miles
(E.) from Lanark; containing 242 inhabitants. This
village lies in the northern part of the parish, and on the
road from Lesmahagow to Hamilton, at its junction with
that from Lanark to Strathaven. The population is
partly engaged in hand-loom weaving for the manufacturers
of the district, and partly in agriculture.
