LOWTHERTOWN, a village, in the parish of Dornock, county of Dumfries; containing 195 inhabitants. This is an improving village, which has sprung up within the last few years, and has its name from the proprietor, named Lowthcr, by whom the land on which it is built is feued. It is situated in the eastern part of the parish, and consists of a large group of cottages inhabited chiefly by i)crsons engaged in agricultural pursuits.
