MOLLENSBURN, a village, in that part of the parish
of Cadder which formed the quoad sacra parish of
Chryston, Lower ward of the county of Lanark, 1|
mile (N. E. by E.) from the village of Chryston; containing
202 inhabitants. This place is in the extreme east
of the parish of Cadder, and on the high road from Perth
to Glasgow; it is neatly built, and from its pleasant situation
and many advantages is likely to increase in population
and importance. The district abounds with wood
and water; excellent whinstone is prevalent in the
neighbourhood, and is quarried for building and other
purposes. The inhabitants are chiefly engaged in agriculture
and in the quarries.
