NEWBIGGING, a village, in the parish of CarnWATH, Upper ward of the county of Lanark, 2 miles (E. by S.) from the village of Carnwath; containing 21" inhabitants. It is pleasantly situated in the south part of the parish, on the road from Carnwath to Dunsyre, and is chiefly inhabited by persons employed in weaving at their own dwellings for the manufacturers of Glasgow and Paisley.
