RENFIELD, a quoad sacra parish (for a time), in the parish of Barony, suburbs of the city of Glasgow, county of Lanark; containing 2938 inhabitants. This place is in the immediate vicinity of the city, and was separated, for ecclesiastical purposes, from Barony parish, under an act of the General Assembly: it was in the presbytery of Glasgow and synod of Glasgow and Ayr. The church, situated in Renfield-street, whence the name of the district, originally belonged to the congregation of Old-Light Burghers: it will afford accommodation to 1320 persons.
