STONEFIELD, a village, in the parish of BlanTYRE, Middle ward of the county of Lanark, 1;^ mile (N. K. by K.) from the village of Blantyre; containing 174 inhabitants. It lies in the north-eastern part of the parish, and on the west bank of the Clyde, which here separates the parish from that of Bothwell. The' population of the village is chiefly employed in the manufactures of the district, and a few in common handicraft trades.
