SWINTON, a village, in the parish of Old-Monkland,
Middle ward of the county of Lanark, 3 miles
(W. by N.) from Old Monkland village; containing 184
inhabitants. It lies in the north-western part of the
parish, a little south of the Monkland canal, and about
half a mile to the north of Crossbill.
