BRETTON, a township, in the parish of HAWARDEN, hundred of MOLD, county of FLINT, NORTH WALES, 3 miles (S. E. by E.) from Hawarden, containing 257 inhabitants. This township is situated on the road from Chester to Flint: contiguous to the village lies what was formerly the great marsh of Saltney, which extends into the county palatine of Chester, and was enclosed pursuant to an act passed in 1778.
