BRYN-Y-BEIRDD, a hamlet, in that part of the parish of LLANDILO-VAWR which is in the hundred of ISCENNEN, county of CARMARTHEN, SOUTH WALES, 4 miles (S. E. by 8.) from Llandilo-Vawr, containing 379 inhabitants. A farm-house in this hamlet, called Cwrt Brit). y Beirdd, is supposed to occupy the site of an ancient Bardic residence. Within a short distance is the source of the river Loughor, which rises in a full stream out of a rock; and contiguous thereto is a natural cavern of considerable extent, which has not yet been fully explored: in some parts it is so narrow as scarcely to admit the passage of a single person, and in others it expands into capacious recesses, exhibiting a variety of curious and beautiful petrifactions.
