LOVESTON, a parish, in the union and hundred of NARBERTH, county of PEMBROKE, SOUTH WALES, 5 miles (S. S. W.) from Nerberth; containing 170 inhabitants. This parish, which is situated In the south-eastern part of the county, and intersected by the turnpike-road, leading from Pembroke to Carroarthee, comprises a moderate _extent of arable and pasture land, the whole inclosed and cultivated. The soil is lertile,and productive: the substratum of the;parish is partly stone-coal of good quality, but it is not at present worked; and only a small quantity of ,cuhn is ,raised, sufficient for the immediate supply of the inhabitants. The rateable annual value of the parish Apa been returnedat £745. 10. The living is a discharged rectory, rated in the king's books at £4. 5. 5., and endowed with £600 royal bounty; present net income, £109; patron, Earl Cawdor: the tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of X90; and there is a glebe of two acres, valued at £5 per annum. A Sunday school is kept during the summer months, in which about 55 males and females are instructed gratuitously.
