SKEIR, a district (extra-parochial), in the hundred of NEWCASTLE, county of GLAMORGAN, SOUTH WALES, 6 miles (W.) from Bridgend. It consists of one large farm of several hundred acres, situated adjacent to Skeir Point, on the shore of the Bristol Channel, and close to Kenvig common: it formerly belonged to the abbey of Neath, which accounts for its being unattached to any parish.
