ALNE, MAGNA and PARVA, (Warwickshire) are 2 villages, near Henley, so called from the r. on which they stand. The manor of Alne MAGNA, which bel. formerly to the mon. of Winchcomb, was granted by Q. Eliz. to one Mrs. Stone, and Grynford, to hold of the crown in capite. Alne Parva was originally the estate of the Lds. of Aston Cantelupe; of which p. it was a part. It bel. formerly to the mon. of Stukely; but after it came to the crown, Q. Mary granted it to Anth. Skinner, whose posterity held it in the R. of Ch. II. Alne-Lodge was the seat of Ld. Carrington.
