AMBLESIDE, (Westmorland) at the upper end of Winander Meer, 206 cm. and 250 mm. from London, was anciently a large city, and a station of the Romans, of whose medals many have been found here; some of which are in that collection, which Mr. Brathwaite, of Ambleside, gave by a deed, in 1674, to the library of the U. of Oxford.
