APPLEBY, (Lincolnshire) bet. Glanford Bridge and Burton upon Trent, on the b. of Yorkshire, is noted for the passage of that famous Roman road through its lane, which comes from Stamford and Lincoln, and is called all along by the country- people, the High-Street; being cast up to a great height, and in some places 7 yards broad.
