ASBORNE, (Derbyshire) or ASHBORN, on the b. of Staffordshire and the E. side of the r. Dove, 10 m. from Derby, and 108 from London. Its chief trade is in the great quantities of cheese sent from it up and down the Trent. Its Fairs are May 3 and 30, Sepr. 29, Ocf. 8, Nov. 27, the first Th. in March, and the first Th. in June. Mt. on S. The family of the Cockeynes flourished here a long time.
