Here was a fine seat burnt down by the rebels in the civil wars, which has been rebuilt by Sir William Drake; but 'tis of most note, for being the birth-place of John Churchill, the victorious D. of Marlborough, and his brother Charles, the general who took the D. of Berwick prisoner at the battle of Landen, whose father, Sir Winston Churchill, married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir John Drake of this place.
