AUKLAND St. ANDREW'S, (Durham) near the former, was anciently a collegiate Ch. under a vicar, with a chantry, and was the
mother Ch. to all this district, which goes by the name of Auklandshire, but Dr. Beck, the Bp. of this see, gave the vicar
the title of dean; and there are 12 prebendaries under him.
