BEACHWORTH-EAST, (Surrey) where was a castle on a knoll, not far from Boxley-hill, bet. Darking and Rygate, which John, E. of Warren, Ld. of the manor, granted to Edw. II. In the R. of Edw. III. Roger Huse was possessed of it; after which it bel. to Thomas Fitz-Alan, E. of Arundel, from whose family it passed to the Browns, the ancestors of Sir Adam Brown, who being the last male heir of it, his niece carried it, by marriage, to the family of Mr. Fenwick, who pulled down the greatest part of the castle, and turned it into a dwelling-house. It was lately the Lp. and estate of two brothers, George and Francis Freeman, and now the seat of Ld. Montjoy.
