BELSYSE, (Middlesex) though now in ruins, was formerly a fine seat of Ld. Wotton, and afterwards of the late E. of Chesterfield, on the S. W. side of Hampstead-hill, where was a chapel, and a deer-park. This place was of special note in 1720, the famous south-sea year, when it was turned into an academy for musick, dancing, and play; and not a little frequented by reason of its neighbourhood to London.
