BESSELSLEIGH, (Berkshire) or BESILSLEIGH, 3 m. S. W. of Oxford, so called from the Besil's family, which flourished here many ages, 'till the 16th century, when it came to the Fettiplaces, of whom it was purchased by Mr. Speaker Lenthall, in whose family it did, very late'y, if it does not still remain.
