BROUGH, (Yorkshire, E.R.) in Holderness, a small village near the old Roman city Cataractum, with a bridge called Cattarack-Bridge; at the S. end of which is a little stone chapel, where, according to tradition, mass was formerly said everyday at eleven o'clock for the benefit of travellers. The manor-house is called Burghall, and the lands bel. to it Thornburrough. Sir John Lawson, Bt. has a seat here.
