BURMARSH, (Kent) in Rumneymarsh, where was once a mansion called Abbots-court, because the abbot of Canterbury used to
sojourn here when he came to survey the monks lands in the marsh. K. Hen. VIII. granted it to Will. Finch, Esq; whose
successor Thomas E. of Winchelsea sold it to Ralph Whitfield, serjeant at law.
