CHARING, (Kent) bet. Lenham and Westwell, on the S. side of the road from Maidstone to Canterbury, stands on a spring of
the r. Len, and has the ruins of a castellated palace of the Abps. given them by some of the first Saxon Ks. and they held
it till Abp. Cranmer exchanged it with Hen. VIII. It has Fairs April 23. and. Oct. 13.
