CHIPCHASE, (Northumberland) and its Hall, on the N. Tyne, a member of the manor of Prudhow, or Pruddo, was formerly the
Umfraviils, and had a fort. Thence it passed to the Herons, who resided here a long time; and it was lately the seat of
Sir John Heron, Bt. as it is now of Sir Henry Heron.
