CLOPTON, (Warwickshire) on the N. side of Stratford upon Avon, of which it was originally a member, Was inhabited by the Cloptons before they first owned it, which was in the R. of Hen. III. In the last century, it came to 2 sisters, coheiresses; one of whom was married to Sir Geo. Carew. whom K. Jam. I. created baron Carew of Clopton.
