CRANFORD, (Middlesex) on the N. W. side of Hounslow, has a bridge over the r. Crane. The most ancient Ld. of this manor was John de Cranford, who gave it to the K's. Templars, and, on their Diss. was settled on those of St. John of Jerusalem; and K. Hen. VIII. granted it to Will. Ld. Windsor; but it bel. to the crown in the R. of K. Ja. I. he gave it to Lady Berkley, greatgrandmother to the Earl of Berkley, who has a seat here. It has a ch. sc.
